Valentina (Pappalardo), Italian singer songwriter based in London, doesn’t seem to be a big fan of social media, but on the evidence of her latest six song EP All Are Lost she doesn’t need to be.

Valentina already has behind her the stints with Hot Chip, Kano and others, she seems to be able to create some quite individual music that stands on its own.

The songs here were created on the move, while she was traveling from Costa Rica and Mexico to L.A. and were recorded in transit, taking a small studio set-up with her wherever she went and recording vocals in reverby bathrooms in Mexico to fancy studios in LA.

Yet, there is a definite same feel, song structure and personal touch, that flies over any limitations – you simply cannot distinguish whether they were recorded in the said bathrooms or a fancy studio – the quality of Valentina’s trip hoppy R&B inflections just simply stand out and grab the listeners, hitting them all over. Excellent.
