San Francisco’s Glenn Donaldson and his Reds, Pinks and Purples, have not only been around for a while, but their releases have been coming in a steady succession, enabling Donaldson and the band to build quite a solid reputation. Yet that reputation didn’t simply come from the fact that The Reds, Pinks and Purples have been steadily coming up with releases, but the music is actually worth anybody’s listening time.

So, no surprise that the band’s latest 6-song EP, True Love Daydream, will be picked up by the growing number of fans, but it should also be picked up by anybody who is currently missing out on this intriguing band.

Donaldson and his crew are from San Francisco, but their sound here (and elsewhere) has more to do with the wave coming in from other waters – specifically Britain and here, even more so, Australia, as the three instrumentals that beat the title of “Shakespeare Garden” (Parts I, II, and III), sound like Donaldson’s homage to The Cure, while the vocal songs have the same vibe and feel, both musically and lyrically to prime Go-Betweens, and in both cases, it is a really high praise.
