SUNYEARS
THE SONG FORLORN
VILLA/YEP ROC

Peter Morén of Peter, Bjorn and John has been a busy guy recently. After nine albums with the band, and during the pandemic, Morén decided to do some solo work, which brought along SunYears, his solo moniker, which brought along Come Fetch My Soul! back in 2023, where Morén somewhat exchanged the sound of his band for a more power pop/The Go-Betweens sound that was both refined and quite detailed due both to Morén’s songwriting and the collaborations he had there with the likes of Ron Sexsmith and others.
Now, for The Song Forlorn, his second offering as SunYears, Morén sticks to the concept of his initial solo album, which includes sophisticated pop/rock veering between power pop and The Go-Betweens style rock. After all, before this album Morén produced Robert Forster’s new album Strawberries. He is now back with his songwriting shining to the fore. He has some great collaborations with Lisa Hannigan, Sam Genders, Nicole Atkins, and James Yorkston.
Whatever happens with Peter, Bjorn and John is yet to be seen, but for now, Morén’s solo work as SunYears stands firm on its own.
