SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE
TIME IS GLASS
DRAG CITY
Ben Chasny, or Six Organs Of Admittance, was never an artist that could be pinned down, and his albums so far ran through a gamut of sounds, from pastoral folk to full-on, loud psychedelia or simple (and not so simple experimentation.
Yet there was always a streak – one of excellence in creating thoughtful, inspiring music. In that respect nothing changes on his new release Time Is Glass.
This time around, Chasny returns to his more pastoral streak, the one where the music is dominated by his always brilliant acoustic guitar playing, subdued vocals and just strands of psych-tinged embellishments that give the songs, where applied, that often mystical depth that the require.
It seems that Chasny goes here for an impressionistic, even haiku-type approach bringing in some wide-colored sounds that either make you stop to ingest the musical image or simply lie down (yes, lie down) and do nothing but enjoy musical excellence.
Another great one from Six Organs of Admittance.
