SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SIVU – WILD HORSE RUNNING

Working as a singer songwriter, being there practically all by yourself is a daunting task, and often, adding something more than just your voice, lyrics, and a single instrument can not only help, but also cover any lesser moment your music has.

Yet, when you actually do not have those lesser moments, adding musical elements and arrangements that make your music ‘full bodied’ so to say, raises the quality of that singer songwriter up a notch, or a few of them.

That is exactly what is happening on Wild Horse Running, the new album by British singer songwriter Sivu. Employing quite a bit of modern production and arranging techniques (courtesy of long-time collaborator Charlie Andrew (Alt-J, London Grammar, Marika Hackman), Sivu bring up an excellent, modern take on what singer songwriter genre should sound like.

Yes, there are quite a few electronic elements in the music here, but at no point do those elements overpower Sivu’s music, but actually give it a new, extra-strength dimension, that fully works.
