NADA SURF
MOON MIRROR
NEW WEST RECORDS
Alternative rockers Nada Surf first achieved popularity with the hit song βPopularβ, and although they never quite reached the same success afterwards, they became a beloved band from the β90s. Their newest album, Moon Mirror, is their 10th album. Although not their best work, it still has lots going for it. Moon Mirror is catchy, upbeat, and full of incredible hooks that will instantly make you think of the β90s. Nothing too extraordinary is going on in the album, but it is definitely a fun and relaxing listen.
βSecond Skinβ and βIn Front Of Me Nowβ are amazing tunes. The formerβs soft, warm, and mellow sound makes it an easy and memorable listen. Meanwhile, the latter is a blast from the past as it screams β90s power pop in the best possible way. Both have tremendous hooks and choruses, something which Nada Surf has always done well.
βMoon Mirrorβ is another highlight from the album. From start to finish, it is just a sensational track. The second half is not nearly as good as the first, except for βX Is Youβ. Most tracks seem to lack the charm that the first half had.
Throughout their career, Nada Surf has always had great introspective songwriting, and Moon Mirror is no different. βLosingβ is the best example. Beautiful, vulnerable, and thought-provoking lyrics make the track incredibly poignant.
Overall, Moon Mirror is a nice addition to the discography of Nada Surf and continues to show their ability to craft interesting and captivating choruses.
