SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: MICHAEL CORMIER-O’LEARY – PROOF ENOUGH

Michael Cormier-O'Leary

MICHAEL CORMIER-O’LEARY
PROOF ENOUGH
DEAR LIFE RECORDS

Michael Cormier-O’Leary is no newcomer to Spill Magazine, and getting right down to it, there is a good reason he reappears here. Not only because he has a new 7-song EP, but because the music within those grooves, bits, or whatever, is of a quality that deserves to be heard.

You may ask a question why ‘only’ an EP, but Cormier-O’Leary is obviously a very busy guy, producing two albums so far, but also working as as composer and bandleader of the instrumental ensemble Hour, founder of Dear Life Records, and member of bands Friendship and 2nd Grade, and running Dear Life Records themselves.

Still he was able to come up with Proof Enough, which is, well, proof enough that he can come up with some substantial music of his own, that shows his ability to come up with high-quality music and lyrics in that, for some dread sub-genre that we call singer-songwriter, without falling into any traps that sub-genre so often opens for other artists.
