Quite a few artists make lofty claims when they speak out to promote their new musical venture. And very often at that, their claims don’t exactly match what you can hear on that said effort. Luckily for Montreal’s Meggie Lennon, what she notes about her new album Desire Days, matches quite faithfully what you can hear in the grooves of her new record: “At 40, I wanted to prove that there’s no age limit to creating an elegant, timeless album.”

Listening to this album, we can’t say much about that timeless thing because we simply cannot know, but her claim about making elegant music with no age limit does ring true. Oh, and you can add things like quite a modern take on timeless pop formulas, and yes, Lennon did use those formulas in exactly the right way to come up with an album of modern, sophisticated pop.
