SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: KAYTRANADA – NOTHIN LIKE U/CHANCES EP

Kaytranada

Kaytranada
Nothin Like U/Chances EP
RCA

Nothin Like U/Chances is the highly anticipated new release from Haitian-Canadian producer Kaytranada. The five-track EP is the follow-up from his critically acclaimed debut album 99.9%, which was awarded the 2016 Polaris Music Prize. It has a nostalgic retro appeal, in both the music and the 12” vinyl format, complete with an A/B side and bonus track.

Side A features “Nothin Like U” with Ty Dolla $ign plus an instrumental version. The song has a light shimmering feel with perfectly timed percussive beats. Dolla $ign’s vocals are a smooth compliment to the seamless musical transitions. It’s a chilled-out love track with simple yet meticulous grooves.

Shay Lia’s sweet soulful singing shines on Side B in “Chances”. The rhythmic downtempo creates an easy-listening soundscape in both this version and the instrumental track. “It Was Meant 2 B” serves as a standalone bonus song. It continues the overall ambient mastery that epitomizes Kaytranada’s distinctive sound.

This release certainly satisfies the insatiable desire for more music from the revered producer, yet still leaves us looking to what’s next.

SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SUNDECAY – THE BLOOD LIVES AGAIN

by Samantha Andujar on February 13, 2026
