For somebody who was at one point lauded as a progenitor of anti-folk, Jeffrey Lewis seems to have no problem at following one of the key folk music traditions—detailed attention at creating great lyrics. With Lewis, there is an always added touch there—he does it with a hefty does of satire (sarcasm creeps in here and there), and it all usually works wonders for both Lewis and his listeners.

In that respect, there isn’t much change on his latest offering (with very obvious references) The EVEN MORE Freewheelin’ Jeffrey Lewis. There is one though quite audible difference – there is no sloppiness or haphazardness in the construction of songs themselves or the music production, something that puts even more accent to Lewis’ lyrics, something that works a charm (and a very big grin) here, making this one of better Lewis albums in recent memory.
