Expressing your personal life, feelings, and observations would be quite a double-edged sword for singer-songwriters. To make it work, the artists who take that route have to make a solid connection with their listeners, make them understand what is going on, and make them relate to what the artist is trying to say. That involves not only choosing the right words, but also the right music to carry those words.

A very hard thing to do, and when you choose to do that in only five songs, as UK-born, L.A.-based singer songwriter Jade Bird does here on her new EP Burn The Hard Drive, that makes the artist’s task even harder.

Yet, with her almost immaculate songwriting, expressive voice, and excellent arrangements, Jade turns into a high-flying bird to which practically any listener can relate to and enjoy her music along the way.
