When it comes to mega-hits, Powerslave is loaded with them, and it’s for good reason that Iron Maiden and Parlophone decided to reissue this iconic record 40 years after its initial release. This special edition features unique packaging and a Zoetrope vinyl pressing—a perfect offering for hardcore fans and vinyl enthusiasts alike.

The Zoetrope vinyl pressing is a particularly impressive touch, unlike anything I’ve seen before. Zoetrope vinyl animates graphics for each track when the record spins, adding a visual layer to the listening experience. For instance, you’ll see a fighter plane for “Aces High”, and an atomic bomb for “Two Minutes to Midnight”. You can check out a demo here.

As for the album’s packaging, it includes expanded artwork, die-cut inner jacket designs, and a four-page fold-out insert with liner notes and lyrics. The flipside of the insert offers a poster image and Steve Harris’ reflections on Powerslave 40 years later. This attention to detail makes the record feel like a serious collector’s piece.

On the musical side, this reissue features the 2015 remastered edition of the album. Tracks like “Aces High”, “Two Minutes To Midnight”, “Flash Of The Blade”, and of course “Powerslave” sound crisp and dynamic, perfectly capturing the energy of Iron Maiden’s early power-metal glory days. The remastering retains the raw essence of the original while enhancing its clarity, delivering an incredible listening experience.

The Maiden camp truly went all out for their fans with this release. It’s an outstanding collector’s edition that celebrates one of the most influential albums in metal history, and for that, I give them top marks on their scorecard!
