HILLARY REYNOLDS
CHANGING SEASONS
INDEPENDENT

Quite a few singer-songwriters come up with their music and lyrics in the spur of the moment, as spontaneous as it can get. Others, like L.A.’s Hillary Reynolds here, take a more meticulous approach, crafting their music and lyrics methodically, through an undefined period of time that can take years, fine-tuning every minute detail.
Of course, both methods can produce music that either works, or it doesn’t, but the latter seems to have a more productive effect, and with Reynolds, it really shows on her debut album Changing Seasons. It took Reynolds five years to craft this album, and with such a prolonged songwriting process, things can turn out sounding a bit too meticulous, even forced. Yet there is this element of flow and seamlessness in Reynold’s music that makes it sound quite natural and easy flowing that leaves such a pleasing effect with the listener making sure that the hard work she put into it all works in all the right ways.
