GODSMACK
LIVE AT MOHEGAN SUN
BMG

After announcing that the ending an incredible 30-year era, legendary rock band Godsmack have released a live recording of their last show on their 2023-2024 tour that supported their Lighting Up the Sky album. This live recording was the last show on the tour, recorded at the sold-out Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut in October 2024. Frontman Sully Erna tells the crowd ‘We don’t know where Godsmack are going from here’ and calls his bandmates his soulmates.
You can feel how high energy this show was. You can hear and almost feel the pyro on this album, as well as the album cover itself. You can really feel Sully’s incredible vocals in every song. The album opens with the track “You and I” from their 2022 album Lighting Up the Sky. The song features an incredible melodic and bluesy guitar solo by guitarist Tony Rombola. Bassist Robbie Merrill sets the groove and compliments drummer Shannon Larkin perfectly throughout the album.
The track “1000hp” is a little bit of a timeline of the band’s career. The opening lyrics
“Time to rewind back to 1995 when we were nothing/
Walking through the streets of Boston/
No one listening/
No one caring about the empty rooms we played/
Until they all showed up one day.”
is the throwback 30 years to the birth of the band.
One unforgettable staple of a Godsmack show is the Battle of the Drums, the long-standing performance with a two-kit duel between Sully, who played the drums on their first album, and Shannon Larkin. Sully plays the piano beautifully on their 2018 single “Under Your Scars” as part of their encore performance.
This high-quality album, that features their greatest hits, is an exceptional closing of a Godsmack chapter and the performance is also available on Blu-ray.
