Georgia Maq’s latest EP, God’s Favourite, presents a blend of Americana folk elements with honest and thoughtful lyrics. This EP consists of five tracks, spanning 17 minutes, and features continuous storytelling throughout. Though it may be different for some listeners’ usual preferences, its calm tone provides a sense of relaxation. Each track transitions smoothly into the next, creating a cohesive listening experience.

“Citronella” stands out as both a notable track and title piece, with lyrics that evoke vivid imagery and resonate across age groups. The themes reflect on youth and authenticity, expressed plainly through the music.

Maq admits to dropping her usual Australian accent in this EP, though it was evident in past songs like the ‘Swanson Street’ from “New Phone, Who’s This” echoing of past experiences of youth in Melbourne. God’s Favourite offers Americana folk from an outsider’s lips – and its splendid.
