Estrella Del Sol
Figura De Cristal
Felte Records
Dream pop has become such a musical phenomenon that you can find (or stumble upon) a great release within the genre from practically any corner of the world. So it is not a great surprise that the L.A.-based Felte Records quickly picked up on Figura de Cristal, the debut album by Mexico City’s Estrella del Sol.
Actually, del Sol started building a name for herself with musically similarly-inclined band Mint Field, something that possibly enabled her to come up with not only with some confident vocals here, but also with some equally confident, high-quality songwriting.
Del Sol’s music comes from the line of thinking of artists like Julia Holter and the late Julee Cruise, touching upon at times on Hope Sandoval and Mazzy Star.
Yet, she ties up all those influence streaks into quite a unified whole that has a definite personal touch, throughout the album.
