DAWN BROTHERS
CRY ALONE
EXCELSIOR RECORDINGS

How do you feel about a run through all that comprises roots rock – from classic rock to soul, R&B and Americana and what not, but comes from over the Atlantic, or to be more precise the Dutch port city of Rotterdam?
If you are so inclined (and you just might need to be), then that city’s quartet, Dawn Brothers, and their latest offering Cry Alone, just might be the solution.
Vocalist/guitarist Bas Van Holt and his crew have that sound down pat, and it is not just the fact that they have been at it for a while (since their debut in 2017), and that this is actually their seventh album, but the fact that, comparable to the greats of such a sound like NRBQ, they have their fingers (and voices) right on the pulse of such a sound, making it quite impossible to tell whether they come from Rotterdam, Vancouver, or Memphis, or anywhere else that comes to mind. ‘That’ sound is there, and they’ve got it.
