SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: CYBERAKTIF – eNdgame

Cyberaktif

CYBERAKTIF
eNdgame
ARTOFFACT RECORDS

Cyberaktif does not disappoint with their latest release. The foundation has been laid with a tremendous album eNdgame, set for release on February 2nd. As promised, it will shake things up, being Cyberaktif’s first release in 30 years! It’s already smashing records for Artoffact, being the most pre-ordered album for the label. This Canadian electronic powerhouse is remerging with full force, reminiscent of the ‘90s scene in which they dominated.

It opens with my personal favourite, “A Single Trace”. If you are an avid fan of gritty industrial tunes, this will be a perfect fit, offering up a pretty jarring, dare I say potentially accurate glimpse of what the future may hold, which you can also see vividly through their music video. “Broken Through Time” opens with a piercing hum, which breaks through the silence and mirrors that post-apocalyptic industrial feel. The voice-over is on and off again but well-tempered and plays well into the desired dimension. The lead vocals offer neat narration throughout. The complete package is a remarkable journey with imagery for those with the dystopian imagination.

Cyberaktif’s eNdgame is accurate to its intent, which may not be everyone’s jam, but it is cool and quite distinct from the everyday mainstream. There’s no guessing here, a call to arms or a warning. All in all, the foundation has been well laid with the three perfectly selected singles, “A Single Trace”, “Broken Through Time”, and “You Don’t Need to See”, culminating into a trippy electronic masterpiece with unique instrumentals that are pretty confronting.

About the Author
Victoria Love-Rainbow
I am an avid connoisseur of music experiences but never had the courage to share them until now. My inspiration comes from the '90s alternative and punk rock music I grew up listening to. Bands like The Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, Eve 6 and Everclear shaped my worldview and taste in music. I want to capture some of their energy and spirit in my stories. Thanks for checking out my bio and my work!
