SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BRANDON WOLFE SCOTT – PRESSED FLOWERS

BRANDON WOLFE SCOTT
PRESSED FLOWERS
VICTORY POOL RECORDS

Those familiar with the band that goes by as Yukon Blonde will surely be familiar with Vancouver’s Brandon Wolfe Scott, a member of the band who has started coming up with solo releases to, Pressed Flowers, his latest 4-song EP being also his fourth solo release.

Inhabiting a similar musical territory as Toronto’s Afie Jurvanen, aka Bahamas, Wolfe Scott loves a detailed melodic touch to his songs, here taking cues from the late 60s psych pop, possibly the reason he covers “Rainbow,” an obscure single by the late 60s British band Marmalade, polishing all the dust that might have fallen on that hidden gem.

At the same time Wolfe Scott’s own tunes here are a full match to the cover, maybe announcing an excellent album to come u soon.
