ANDREW YOUNG
HELLO AGAIN
INDEPENDENT

Andrew Young is an artist based in Raleigh, NC, and although he is quite young, he has been making music for a number of years. Hello Again is his new five-song EP. Young proudly wears his influences on his sleeve, and he is a musician who grew up with music from the alt-rock world and country. He combines the best of those and other worlds to create his own distinct sound and style.
His alt-rock sensibility is heard on “Loose Ends”, but he merges it with outlaw country. The end result is an exciting sound that grabs your attention and holds it in a tight grip. His voice in the song is perfect and the arrangement is fascinating. If you have ever wondered what Pearl Jam would sound like with late 1970’s Waylon Jennings, this song might give you an idea. But then he shows his power pop side with “September”. While the opening track, “Till The Wheels Fall Off” is more standard new country sound.
Then he shows his sentimental side with the lovely ballad “Heaven”. A beautiful song, with sparse but effective production and then he ends the EP with the show stealer “Blue”. “Blue” is an incredibly moving and emotional song and shows yet another side of Young. It is energetic, powerful and has an incredible melody. It is a brilliant song.
With only five songs, Young has produced a very interesting and brilliant and original EP. This is an artist that is showing a great deal of promise and is developing his own style and sound. Hello Again shows that an artist can be influenced but not mimic or copy the music that has inspired them.
