SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: DEVON ALLMAN – THE BLUES SUMMIT

Devon Allman

DEVON ALLMAN
THE BLUES SUMMIT
RUF RECORDS

Get ready to put on your rockin’ blues shoes, because Devon Allman, along with The Devon Allman Project, is about to release his latest album, The Blues Summit, a star-studded celebration of soul and swagger, on July 25. With roots tracing back to his legendary father, Gregg Allman, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s The Allman Brothers Band, Devon takes that Southern rock DNA and spins it into something bold and fresh.

Now, if you were living under a rock and haven’t connected the dots yet, Allman is the son of the iconic singer, songwriter, and guitarist Gregg Allman, from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s The Allman Brothers Band. Talk about a family legacy that is pure gold!

The album’s standout song, “Peace To The World”, is reminiscent of Three Dog Night’s “Joy To The World”. “After You” is the heartbeat of the album, offering a poignant exploration of lost love and the journey of learning to move on. The rest of the album blends soulful originals with classic covers.

To describe this album, imagine the spirit of The Allman Brothers Band reborn with a fresh, electrifying twist. The Blues Summit isn’t just Allman honouring his roots — it’s him expanding them. With scorching guitar solos, soulful vocals, and a lineup that reads like a blues hall of fame, this album is your backstage pass to the future of Southern rock. For fans, it’s a record that makes you feel like you are front row at a music festival —every time you press play!

My love for music and writing has led me to be a music journalist. My favorite music era is the 70s. I want to help save the music from that era, so it is not forgotten, and writing about it helps me do that.
