Even though the Grateful Dead might not fit within the hard rock, heavy psych, and proto-metal subgenres that is the subject matter of the Brown Acid compilation series, their now legendary quote ‘what a long strange trip it’s been’ can certainly fit here – The Brown Acid series is celebrating its 20th release in exactly 10 years, meaning the ardent collectors of rare and very often unreleased tracks often got two comps a year!

It is the tenacity and gopher-like search for rarities of Lance Barresi of Permanent Records and Daniel Hall of RidingEasy Records that have brought this series so far, and it is not just a collectors feat of gathering anything and everything that would fit here, but also the quality of the selections that make this series a worthwhile excursion, and yet this time around there is another interesting detail – most of the artists included this time are still around and are keeping the hard stuff flame alive!
