Hard times can make one either angry or melancholic, and sentimental, and that surely reflects on the music created in such times.

Jacob Allen, aka Puma Blue, Londoner who has moved to Atlanta, GA, has a few albums under his belt that have piqued the interest of numerous critics. He has taken the latter route on his latest offering antichamber.

When you go gentle and quiet with your music, you have lowered the protection mechanisms that energy and noise give you – all the qualities of your songwriting and performance (or lack of) are out in the open. You’ve got nowhere to hide.

But here, Allen doesn’t have to hide anything. He possesses that delicate, individual touch and invests enough of his emotions to make both his songwriting and performance shine throughout in all those dimmed, subdued lights he has lit up here.

Is it the perfect reflection or late night music, or is it both? Sure is, and very often you just can’t get enough of those.
