JULIA-SOPHIE
FORGIVE TOO SLOW
BA DA BING! RECORDS
With any form of electro music, pop, or ambient (take your pick) the key question these days is βwhat is that new element an artist can bring to the genre?β
It can be big, it can be small, just as long as there is some sort of a fresh air coming in, as so many artists within the electro genres seem to be hanging on the coattails of the originals.
Now, here comes Anglo-French artist Julia-Sophie with her debut solo album Forgive Too Slow. They dub the former member of Candy Says and someone who toured with the likes of Blondie and Courtney Love as an avant-garde artist, and on the evidence of this album, that tag can firmly stand.
What Julia-Sophie does here is quite a feat on its own. She picks up the well-digested pieces of the best electro-pop done so far, and combines them in an intricate way. It is an excellent individual take on what electro pop should sound like today.
