EDDY LEE RYDER
SWEET DELUSIONS
INDEPENDENT
When the title track of Eddy Lee Ryder’s debut album Sweet Delusions, opens the album you are hit with that Deja vu sensation that is both familiar, but at the same time fresh and new sensation.
Ryder not only touches on Phil Spector-like wide screen aural sensation done so well by Lana Del Ray before her but also has an exquisite voice, somewhere between Del Ray and Stevie Nicks. Yet, with all that might be familiar to the listener, there are fresh and exciting touches in her songwriting that combine that wide screen sound with touches of everything from your pure pop to very rootsy sounds that run through practically every song of the 11 songs here.
And it is all so well crafted, with every sound detail given full attention to make it sound, well, as it really should. It is something only the most gifted artists can offer, and Ryder shows all the characteristics of an artist that should make it really big.
