Moby’s Always Centered at Night, released on June 14, features collaborations with Lady Blackbird and Benjamin Zephaniah. The album showcases Moby’s signature style of glittery melodies and warm, hypnotic, cathartic instrumentals—it’s simply electric.

Moby is an electronic musician and activist whose sound emerged from the underground electronic movement of the 90s, pushing through to the mainstream with heavy play through MTV, radio, film, and other media platforms. Moby definitely became a brand name, and from out of nowhere, with the release of a memoir with several jarring moments defined by the artist. Always Centered at Night is much more tranquil than diehard fans of pieces such as Play have come to adore, which sold 12 million copies worldwide, mind you. There is a definite evolution in this most recent work from Moby, and if you are familiar with the artist, you will enjoy this more relaxed journey.

This album is like a majestic unicorn wearing a tuxedo, but does it reach the “OMG, my eardrums exploded!” levels of Moby’s previous work? Nah, not quite. But fear not, my friend, you won’t be left crying in a corner either. Moby’s tracks have this sneaky way of creeping into your soul, like a mischievous electronic ninja. You’ll get lost in the music as if it’s playing from another dimension. Expecting to break out with a wild TechStep of yesteryear, no… but hey, let’s face it, us diehard fans probably don’t have the knees for that kind of craziness anyway. So, get ready to have your mind gently blown and your foot slightly tapping. This album will bring you to a state of musical bliss that’ll make you say, “Well played, Moby, well played.”

What’s more, Moby’s first live dates in a decade have been announced. Alas, it’s a European tour, but hopefully, it will extend elsewhere. If it is anything like The Chemical Brothers extraordinaire in 2024, it won’t disappoint. Moby’s new track and video, “Dark Days”, featuring Lady Blackbird, is out now… and it’s mind-blowingly mind-boggling!
