SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SLOW JOY – MI AMIGO SLOW JOY

Slow Joy

SLOW JOY
MI AMIGO SLOW JOY
MICK MUSIC

Slow Joy is Dallas via New Mexico artist Esteban Flores, who started out back in 2020 with a pair of singles that made quite some impact on TikTok, with kind of an indie rock sound that isn’t usually associated with that social media outlet. After an EP in 2023, Flores is back with yet another EP release, the four-song Mi Amigo Slow Joy.

Operating in that guitar-strong indie rock zone that is anywhere between Pixies and Foo Fighters with a knack  for some strongly harmonizing multi-track vocals, Flores shows why he has made such a buzz on TikTok, opting to present only the songs he is fully satisfied with so far, and for a good reason as the songwriting and musicianship fit his equally strong lyrics that give the four songs here exactly the substance the excellent musicianship he brings deserves.
