SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BLITZEN TRAPPER – 100’S OF 1000’S, MILLIONS OF BILLIONS

Blitzen Trapper

BLITZEN TRAPPER
100’S OF 1000’S, MILLIONS OF BILLIONS
YEP ROC

It has been a while since we had a chance to hear from Blitzen Trapper, four years approximately, and it is always welcome to hear back from them, no matter which direction they would lean towards, with every new release.

This time around, on 100’s Of 1000’s, Millions Of Billions, their latest, they take a more relaxed, spaced-out, psych-leaning version of their take on Americana, throwing in some prog-like complex changes to boot, yet without trying to show off or complicating things too much.

Blitzen Trapper has always had that light-handed touch with their melodies and arrangements, letting their quality songwriting shine whenever it could, and it does here quite effectively.

And as was the case previously, it is not an easy thing to pin down their set of influences, if that is the thing you want to do instead of listening to this excellent set of twelve substantial songs.
