Tallahassee-based singer songwriter Sarah Morrison might not care much about social media (try finding her socials), but she sure cares about her music. Just take an even cursory listen to her latest full album Attachment Figure.

She surely tackles all the aspects of socials and virtual reality in “Knowing Thyselves,” but it is all through some introspective, dark-tinted lenses that search deep and wide. And that is just the tip of the iceberg of her lyrics here.

Musically, Morrison goes far and beyond what is considered the standard singer-songwriter fare, exploring jazz and post-rock sonics with wide-spreading arrangements that fully suit her quite intricate vocals. In many ways it is quite reminiscent of the works of late Talk Talk frontman Mark Hollis and Kate Bush, the latter whom she matches with her vocal range.

Attachment Figure is an album that deserves deep listener immersion that will bring out layers of complexities that are not there just for their own sake.
