When the news broke out back in 1973 that Marvin Gaye is to release a new album that was to follow What’s Goin’ On, an album that even then was considered as one of all-time best in modern music, all critics posed a question – how would Gaye be able to follow something that had such a perfect balance between social and personal?

When the album finally reached its listeners, one thing became evident – Gaye was able to come up with something that had another perfect balance – this time between personal and intimate.

Let’s Get It On turned out to be another triumph, another all-time classic and the new deluxe edition of the album confirms its status. It is not just the original album itself — the additional material includes previously released and unreleased music, and some previously released songs that have been remixed, including the single edits, album bonus tracks, the David Van De Pitte Sessions and vocals for the then unreleased Vulnerable album. They all simply confirm Marvin Gaye’s and this album’s status as among the greatest in modern music.
