Singer-songwriter has become such a broad category these days, even though that with quite a few listeners the first thing that comes to mind is a single artist with an acoustic guitar or behind a piano.

Does London-born, American-resident musician Erin K fall into the singer-songwriter category on her latest offering Sink to Swim? Not if you look and listen to her music in the narrower definition of the genre.

Erin K presents herself here as a much broader artist that likes to diversify her bedroom pop-tinged songs with some intricate, detailed arrangements that almost never rely on a single instrument. At the same time, her songwriting is strong enough to be able to carry such arrangements with ease.

Yet there is one general singer-songwriter characteristic Erin K presents here – the ability to come up with some equally high-quality lyrics and poetry that make her songs fully-rounded and substantial.
