The highly anticipated album from Girls Under Glass embodies a captivating fusion of sinister, dark, gothic, and metal musical stylings. What initially began as an EP turned into a fully realized album. Backdraft presents an intriguing combination of gothic rock and electronic punk, a rare feat accomplished by few bands. While the lyrics may not delve into deeply personal territories, they certainly reflect the prevailing issues of our time.

The skillful implementation of synths and acid beats is particularly noteworthy, especially in the electrifying tracks “We Feel Alright” and “Tanz im Neonlicht”. The standout single, “Tainted”, showcases the band’s ability to flawlessly blend their diverse musical elements—an accomplishment that is exceedingly challenging and one that few bands possess the talent to achieve.

For those unaccustomed to the metal and gothic genres, Girls Under Glass might initially catch them off guard at first. However, as a devoted fan of rock and metal, I must acknowledge the band’s talent and applaud this album for its extraordinary uniqueness—it’s a rare gem that is not one you come across often and is a must listen.
