If you want a new band to fall in love with, this is it. You Said Strange’s latest LP, Thousand Shadows Vol. 2, is brilliant and versatile.

The guitar riffs on their latest LP are insanely catchy, melodic, powerful, and hypnotic. The dreamy shoegaze riff from “No Way Out” and the exuberant alternative rock riff from “What A Day” are the best.

One of the best things about the LP is the variety of sound and instrumentation, particularly the pleasant surprise of the accordion and saxophone. The accordion in “The Raft (No Way In) is so enjoyable to listen to on repeat. With “Eastern Side”, they show why more music needs the saxophone. Its use here is a perfect addition to the epic 9-mins song.

“(Song For A) Wasted Land” is one of the standout tracks. It has a hint of jazz, avant-garde, and psychedelic, has an odd but pleasing guitar riff, and feels almost like something David Bowie would have released. Another highlight is “Rats”. Unlike the other songs from the LP, this one is minimalistic as it only features a piano. The shimmering keys and the simplicity and elegance of the track is delightful.

Thousand Shadows Vol. 2 is an LP definitely worth listening to.
