Eyelids
Colossal Waste Of Light
Jealous Butcher Records
Eyelids, a band from Portland, OR, has released their fourth LP,Β Colossal Waste Of Light,Β and this will be the first one featuring new bass player Victor Krummenacher. Sometimes changes in a band can drastically affect the quality of music. However, this is not the case for Eyelids. Their latest LP is brilliant and features interesting and absorbing storytelling, gorgeous vocals, and perfect production.
Colossal Waste Of LightΒ is full of very short but incredibly infectious and energetic indie pop songs with incredibly catchy and groovy guitar riffs that will stay in your head. Eyelids have a great ear for creating memorable guitar riffs, which sets them apart from other bands in the same genre. βCrawling Off Your Pagesβ is indie pop at its finest. It is a great opening track that will remind you of classic indie pop from the early 2000s. βRunaway Yeahβ combines acoustic and electric guitars to produce a happy and melancholic feel. βThatβs Not Real At All (B. Midweek Pg. 207)β has one of the most creative indie pop guitar riffs I have heard in quite some time. It is the best song from the album and has the makings of being a classic indie pop song.
Every track gives off a sense of nostalgia, like the vibrant and upbeat track βSwinging In The Circusβ or the dreamy track βThe Snowfire Bandβ.
One of the highlights fromΒ Colossal Waste Of LightΒ is βMisuseβ. It feels very much like a track from The Beatles, a homage of sorts to them.
Overall, you want to experienceΒ Colossal Waste Of Light,Β especially if you enjoy indie pop music similar to Bombay Bicycle Club or Vampire Weekend.
