SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SHLOHMO – THE END

Shlohmo

Shlohmo
The End
Friends Of Friends Music

LA musician and entrepreneurial collective founder Shlohmo, an absolute titan of Witch-House, Ambient, and Industrial Hip-Hop, is back with a reflective musing on the apocalypse, aptly entitled The End. It’s claustrophobic, but with the perfect amount of breathing room for its subject matter. It’s warm, but with a cool breeze. It’s glitchy and inorganic, but more alive than most of the music on the market right now. While this album has a fairly consistent feel throughout (which is my only complaint) the places it will take you are all too familiar.

If you haven’t gotten into Shlohmo before (how, I ask you?) then you’re in for a treat. While this album is something completely different from everything in the dark cellar of Witch-House, you’ll always be able to expect something of this quality from a Shlohmo release. It’s got such a nostalgia to it for something made in such alien times that even someone who doesn’t relate to the grittiness of the release can find something living and breathing along with us inside of it.
