Earlier this year, the brilliant Thierry Noritop returned with his new project STEREO in SOLO and the album Somewhere Out There. Now he continues with new music with a new EP of remixes from that album, plus a new song. And as with the mothership, this EP is stunning. He has picked the right songs to be remixed and the right disc jockey to remix them. Bert Koning, who has a radio show The XTended Radioshow.

“Flowers On The Moon” and “Skytrain” both benefit from the remix treatment. Koning takes everything great about the songs and does not make it better, but accentuates the highlights of the of the songs. The energy burst through but underneath is Noritop’s brilliant and stirring melodies. The other mixes are great too, but these two stand out. For the record, the other songs remixed are “Electric City Of Light” and the mellow and chill out track, “Secret Secret”.

“Dreamy Dream”, a new song is something one may not expect from Noritop It is not an electro song, and it is very mellow. It is also, quite simply, beautiful. The arrangement takes the song into a middle Eastern feel and the song flows in and out of the listener’s consciousness. It is the perfect way to end a very energetic dance EP. You heart has been pumping for 20 minutes, and then Noritop slows it all down. This is perfect sequencing and perfect ending.

Noritop is a genius and STEREO in SOLO is a fantastic project. I was extremely happy that he continues with this and continues to release new music. His songs have a 1980s vibe, so lend themselves to the remix treatment, which means this EP was not a total surprise. It may not have been a surprise, but it sure is welcomed. Although his music has an 1980s feel, it does not mean the songs do not sound current, because they do sound very current and are very relevant. Somewhere Out There – The Xtended Versions EP is a wonderful record. It is adventurous and instantly accessible. Well done, again, Mr. Noritop.
