St. Vincent
Masseduction
Loma Vista Recordings/Universal Music
St. Vincent (Annie Clark), originally from Dallas, Texas, has teamed up with producer Jack Antonoff for an interesting follow up to her 2014 Grammy Award winning Alternative Album of the Year St. Vincent.
Recorded in Los Angeles, Antonoff’s studio in Brooklyn, NY, along with Electric Lady Studios in Manhattan, the new CD Masseduction is a different kind of record – one minute haunting like the excellent “Hang On Me” to the new single “Los Ageless,” Masseduction tends to draw you in, like all good records should.
Inspired by her ex, actress and model Cara Delevingne, who sings on the song “Pills,” key cuts include the previously mentioned “Hang On Me,” “Sugarbaby” and “Los Ageless.” Also worthy of note is the soft ballad “Happy Birthday Johnny” and St. Vincent’s vocal phrasing on the final cut “Smoking Section.”
St. Vincent embarks on her Fear The Future tour to promote Masseduction in Belgium in late October, and hits Paris and Berlin before heading stateside and into the new year, but no Canadian dates as yet planned.
