Album Review: Old Man Luedecke – Tender is the Night

If you’re looking for old school Country charm, spark up Old Man Luedecke’s latest release, Tender is the Night, and you will not be disappointed. After traveling to Nashville to record his latest gem with engineers and musicians, strapped with enviable resumes to say the least, Luedecke is once again letting the world know that he plays music from the heart and is a true contender on the world’s Folk/Bluegrass scene. His simple yet dynamic approach to his own brand of banjo music is subtle and perfectly executed on all fronts. The pristine recordings translate perfectly through a nice set of speakers sounding like the man is playing live in the same room.

This album is full of happy and positive tunes that will surely get you in a great mood and would be just the thing for a breakfast spin. The only missing element on Tender is the Night is a Wow-factor; all songs seem to blend together leaving nothing that really stands out of the pack. “A&W Song” could easily have been dropped from this release as it’s simply filler about being on the road and eating A&W. “Song for Ian Tyson” would have to be my top choice; it’s straight up old time Bluegrass with great falsetto yodels and four on the floor playing right in the pocket. This release is definitely worth picking up.
