SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: BILLBOARD STYLE – PULL OF THE MOON

BILLBOARD STYLE
PULL OF THE MOON
GOOD ENGLISH RECORDS

Very often, side projects turn into vanity projects, with all involved trying too hard to sound different than they usually do. Brooklyn’s Billboard Style is a side project of Ben Guterl (Forth Wanderers) and Dan Howard (Victoryland), who together have come up with Pull of the Moon, the debut album under the Billboard Style banner.

Whether this projects sounds quite different, not so different or not at all what they do with their original bands shouldn’t make any difference, since the duo seem to be on the right track of spreading their musical wings over a number of rock genres (or sub-genres), focusing on making their songwriting stand out on its own merits, without paying much attention whether it comes from here or there, just as long it sounds good to their ears.
