LOATHE w/ FLESHWATER & PROSTITUTE

Liverpool band Loathe is one of the most genre-bending acts in metal, and 2026’s A Stranger To You, the group’s first album in about five years, is no different. It is a super heavy record that pushes everything they’re known for to new extremes: Super dreamy at times, and jarringly brutal at others, It’s the perfect album for people that like metal and shoegaze alike.

The band was in good company with hectic noise rock group Prostitute opening up for them. The Dearborn, Michigan band played songs off their 2025 debut album Attempted Martyr such as “M. Dada,” “Judge,” and “Harem Induction Hour.” This group has one of the most original sounds in the noise scene and is bound to become a staple. It was a relentless 45 minutes.

Fleshwater came on next and got the crowd going with their signature grungy shoegaze sound. They opened with “Green Street,” “Jetpack,” and “Linda Claire,” three songs that seamlessly blend lush atmospheres with loud distorted guitars. They ended their heavy albeit very catchy set with the track “Standalone.”

Loathe kicked things off with “Block of Flats,” “Fortress Down,” and “Gemini.” Lead singer Kadeem France’s electric stage presence was on full display: the lead singer doesn’t just jump around and scream into the mic, he dances and enjoys himself too, something the audience mirrored.

The song “Fangs” had the crowd going crazy, it’s one of the band’s heavier tracks leaning more into the metal side of things. Frances’ vocals are super harsh, and the industrial sounding drums only add gasoline to the fire.

They ended their set with “No Stranger to You…,” a shoegaze inspired track that slowly builds into a wall of distortion, and before leaving they treated the audience to an encore with the song “Gifted Every Strength.” It was a sweaty night for the history books.
