THE BARR BROTHERS W/ GEORGIA HARMER
@ THE PALACE THEATRE, CALGARY (AB)
APRIL 2, 2026
As part of their Let it Hiss Tour to support their 2025 album Let it Hiss, The Barr Brothers amazed the audience at the Palace Theatre in Calgary on April 2. This was their last stop in North America before they head out to Europe and the UK for some shows which runs from April 15 to May 1. After this, they return to Canada for a couple of shows in Quebec from May 14 to May 23.
Georgia Harmer opened the night with some fabulous folk tunes. Harmer’s voice is outstanding on her albums, and she sounds even better live. “Little Light” and “Eye Of The Storm” are the two songs that stood out the most. “Little Light” was mesmerizing, especially the stunning chorus. Meanwhile, Harmer’s breathtaking voice, the gentle acoustic guitar, warm atmosphere, and the introspective lyrics of “Eye Of The Storm” were excellent.
Against the backdrop of some cool and fascinating light displays, The Barr Brothers were terrific throughout the night. Several of the songs they performed were from their new album Let it Hiss. “She Doesn’t Sleep With The Covers On” was a fun and joyous little jam, with the bright upbeat melody, Brad Barr’s charming vocals, and the groovy guitar riffs being the best parts. “Naturally” was another high point. This psychedelic Beatle-esque track was riveting, most notably the last minute and a half. Brad’s vocals in this section were tremendous, and all the instruments mixed together perfectly, especially the piano and the harp. Harmer also joined The Barr Brothers for a couple of songs, with the main highlight being the highly energetic and anthemic “Run Right Into It.” Andrew Barr’s drumming on this track was phenomenal.
The Barr Brothers also performed a handful of songs from their other albums. They opened the night off perfectly with “Hideous Glorious” and “Hideous Glorious, Pt. 2” from their album Queens of the Breakers. Both songs were euphoric. Brad’s voice was electrifying, and Éveline Grégoire-Rousseau’s harp accompaniment was majestically ethereal. For the gorgeously dreamy “Burn Card,” Andrew stepped away from the drums and sang beside Brad. Brad played around with the guitar strings in a very fascinating way in this song, too. This performance was met with loud applause. Hearing “Kompromat” live was amazing. It has so many wicked guitar riffs that will have you jamming along. Their beautifully dazzling cover of Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” was another highlight. It was wonderful to hear pretty much everyone in the crowd singing along.
Overall, The Barr Brothers put on a magnificent show in Calgary.
