MARTA DEL GRANDI
DREAM LIFE
FIRE RECORDS

Some singer-songwriters stick to all the defined lines, if you could call them that of this broadly-defined genre (and they are quite good at it), while there are not so many of them that try to bring in elements from elsewhere, consciously or unconsciously, often breathing a hefty dose of fresh air into this, for some strictly defined genre.
Italian-born singer-songwriter, Marta Del Grandi, doesn’t seem to care about how you define her music, as she picks up elements from anywhere she sees or feels fit with a careless abandon innovators bring along on such occasions. Of course, such innovations can be a double-edged sword, with different elements simply not fitting together well, but Del Grandi’s musical sense of how to combine seemingly disparaging elements never fails her on Dream Life, her latest album.
And yes, it is quite a fitting album title, as Del Grandi weaves in and out of her dream-like musical constructions with such an ease as if she did it all on a whim of her (musical) instincts. This one will stick strong throughout the year.
