IDLES SHARE CAUGHT STEALING SOUNDTRACK REMIXES
PARTISAN RECORDS
In celebration of Darren Aronofsky’s acclaimed new film Caught Stealing hitting Netflix last Friday, IDLES have shared three new remixes of their original music from the film’s soundtrack. Lip Critic took on film opener “Doom,” while both Interpol and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs put their own spin on the high-intensity chase scene stealer “Rabbit Run.” Speaking about their remix, Interpol’s Sam Fogarino said, “ I was so taken by the dynamic bombast of the original mix, that I just sat and listened to it, on repeat, for an embarrassing length of time. A white knuckle—roller coaster ride of a listen.”
The Caught Stealing original soundtrack is out digitally now via Protozoa/Partisan Records. Grammy-nominated UK band IDLES contributed four original tracks to the crime caper’s soundtrack as well as having recorded the full film score composed by Rob Simonsen (The Whale, Deadpool & Wolverine). Also included is a striking cover of the Junior Marvin-penned “Police and Thieves,” famously covered by The Clash on their 1977 self-titled debut album. Buy/Stream the soundtrack HERE and pre-order vinyl and CD HERE, due out December 19th.
Drawing inspiration from the gritty energy of the 1990s New York punk scene that permeates Academy Award® nominee Aronofsky’s film, IDLES and Aronofsky quickly formed a creative kinship, united by a deep mutual respect for each other’s work. When Aronofsky began developing Caught Stealing he turned to his favorite band to shape the film’s sonic identity.
Together, IDLES, Aronofsky, and Simonsen formed a uniquely exhilarating collaboration, pushing and pulling from one another’s areas of expertise to elevate the greater whole.
