In The Park – SHAD Kick Off Concert
@ First Canadian Place, Toronto
June 28, 2017
There’s nothing better than a free, open air Shad concert on a warm Wednesday night. Shad opened the #InTheParkFCP In The Park summer concert series in the First Canadian Place park in front of King Taps.
Shad went off with streetcars and commuters zooming by in the backdrop to his typical stellar hip hop set. Flanked with live trumpet, keys, drums and bass, Shad played a number of hits, including my favourite frugal number, “The Old Prince Still Lives At Home.” The crowd was bopping – always nice to see some suits letting loose. And Shad stuck around to sign some autographs and say hi to his fans.
#InTheParkFCP In The Park series shifts to a Thursday 12:15 pm lunch slot and runs all of July. Upcoming free concerts include: KC Roberts and The Live Revolution on July 13, country music’s “Adele,” Jessica Mitchell on July 20, and a surprise mystery artist on July 27. The chance to win VIP Festival passes to Wayhome Festival, Boots and Hearts Music Festival and Osheaga in Montreal (flight and accommodations care of WestJet and Citadelle Montreal) are an added bonus. This free musical series is brought to Toronto by First Canadian Place as a part of the property manager’s Arts Brookfield programming which brings cool curated arts events to Brookfield properties worldwide.
