THE W LOVERS
FOR A DAY OR A LIFETIME
INDEPENDENT
These are some heady days for the fans of roots-based music, as there are high-quality artists appearing in this musical realm practically every day. If those fans haven’t yet caught up with The W Lovers, wife/husband duo of Fleur and Wesley Wood, who have been around since 2014, their latest album For A Day Or A Lifetime just might be the right moment to do so.
Essentially, it is all there. Some nifty, intricate songwriting, based on often sparse instrumental arrangements that fit the songs, and some equally subtle, but effective, vocal harmonies, with Fleur usually taking the lead.
Nothing new, some might say, but then, that is not the point; it is the quality of the songwriting, the instrumental, and the vocal presentation of a top-notch quality that carry the day here. With roots genre, that is just the point that makes such music work, as it does here.
