Sugar Candy Mountain’s Mystic Hits is an album that has been out of print for a while now (a decade or so), and in the meantime has earned that mystic tag from its title.

Starting out as duo of Will Halsey and singer-songwriter Ash Reiter, Sugar Candy Mountain turned into a full-fledged band, recoding this album between Sao Paulo, BR and Oakland, CA, with quite a sense of purpose.

After all, there is an obvious reverence here for the music created during the Tropicalia movement in Brazil, particularly its psychedelic influences, giving this album and its songs the right to claim that mystic tag, as Halsey and Reiter, not only picked up all the right influences here, but meshed them so well into their own creation, that this album has all the characteristics of a very unique, personal music creation.

Still, are these songs hits? They damn well should be.
