NICK & JUNE
NEW YEAR’S FACE
INDEPENDENT

It has been something like two years since we last heard from Berlin duo Nick & June. This time, they have gone to the United States to record an album, one that adds new touches to their wide-eyed cinematic sound that they previously did so well; 30 million streams will do that for you.
They still go for that combination of Lana Del Rey/Cowboy Junkies; a curious area between dream pop and all things late night, this time around bolstered by an even more detailed production by Peter Katis and with fleeting roles by The Antlers, Thomas Bartlett, and one Sufjan Stevens.
And yes, it all works again, as if there was no personal breakup between Kraft and Wolf, or maybe that was the key.
