SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: JULIANNA BARWICK & MARY LATTIMORE – TRAGIC MAGIC

Julianna Barwick & Mary Lattimore

JULIANNA BARWICK & MARY LATTIMORE
TRAGIC MAGIC
INFINÉ RECORDS

It seems to be the time for the successful combination of modern classical and other modern (or not so modern) musical forms, and Tragic Magic, a debut joint album by singer/composer Julianna Barwick and harpist/composer Mary Lattimore is here to prove it.

Both artists have already made a name for themselves in both their solo careers, or through collaborating with others, and through their previous work there was a sense that there are quite a few merging points between the two. It seems that those merging points proved themselves quite easily, as it took Barwick and Latimore only nine days to conceive and record this album, co-produced by Trevor Spencer (Fleet Foxes, Beach House). You can feel the synergy throughout the seven compositions/songs (you can call them both and at the same time), sounding as the two artists have been working together for decades rather than days, with the quality of the music not faltering at any point and its spiritual touch oozing out of every note.

by Nathan Pike on February 13, 2026

SPILL ALBUM REVIEW: SUNDECAY – THE BLOOD LIVES AGAIN

by Samantha Andujar on February 13, 2026
SUNDECAY THE BLOOD LIVES AGAIN INDEPENDENT Sundecay’s sound is akin to a slow-forming bruise: a purplish-blue darkness that blooms around the skin until it becomes impossible to ignore. While the Toronto doom outfit has always embodied this [...]
