They say that the Americana/roots genre is getting crowded. Quite possibly so, but that just gives the opportunity to those artists that should stand out with the quality of their music do exactly that.

Toronto singer/songwriter Jerry Leger has been around for a while and has already shown that he has both the songwriting and performing capability to stand above quite a few others that are working within the genre.

Donlands, his latest offering, goes on quite a way to prove that point. With Leger, on the first take, it seems that there’s not one element that particularly stands out, but detailed listens go on to show that it is his subtle and unhurried songwriting and equally detailed and unhurried delivery that keep on sticking to your ears making sure that the first listen surely is not the last one. Definitely a keeper of an album.
