DAVID PICCO
UNTIL NOW
INDEPENDENT
So, the singer-songwriter scene, with those artists leaning towards the more roots/Americana sound is getting a bit crowded these days. It is getting harder and harder to make an impact, particularly if you are trying to take the independent release route.
Still, if you are doing things right, like St. John’s, Newfoundland resident David Picco has been doing on his sven albums so far, including his latest, Until Now, you are bound to carve out a fan base that will cherish your music.
Supported here by an excellent musical crew led by Jimmy Bowskill of The Sheepdogs and Blue Rodeo, Picco presents his quietly solid, tight, songwriting and smooth vocals that fit that roots music line so nicely.
It is actually a personal touch that Picco brings here that make all of these 10 tracks here really work and stand above quite a few of albums with a similar touch released this year.
